Position: Director of Safety

Description:
We’re working with a well known transportation/distribution company in search of a high-caliber Director of Safety near Harrisburg, PA. This individual will have regional responsibility across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. The ideal candidate is a hands on and strategic safety leader that comes directly from the trucking industry or works with an organization that has their own assets/drivers.

Responsibilities:
– Communicates risk control and safety issues/objectives to operations, upper level leadership, drivers, and field safety individuals
– Broad working knowledge of OSHA’s federal, state regulations as well as local safety, health, environmental, and worker’s compensation laws and regulations
– Effectively motivate and lead a high performing team
– Provide on-going communication and coaching to drivers and field safety individuals
– Responsible for OSHA reporting and recordkeeping
– Audit implementation of programs and ensure strategy for sustainable compliance
Qualifications:
– Professional certifications, such as GSP, ASP, CSP, and/or ARM preferred
– Four-year degree or equivalent required
– Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and provide superior customer service
– Broad working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, environmental and workers’ compensation laws and regulations
– Experience in high volume and demanding distribution/terminal setting
