    Environmental Coordinator, Southeast US

    1St Shift

    Purpose of Position:

    Provide guidance and support by helping facilitate successful implementation of company objectives and goals as well as meeting or exceeding legislative, regulatory and Employee Charter requirements through the various EHS programs and initiatives. Through these programs and initiatives, the Environmental Coordinator will work proactively and reactively to help maintain a safe working environment by conducting plant safety walks, injury investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action to avoid injuries, assess ergonomic issues and create proactive recommendations to reduce ergonomic injuries. The Environmental Coordinator will also complete documentation in a timely manner, be the go-to person in the plant for Safety and Environmental issues, and ensure plant audits and certifications are up to date.

    Recommended Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    - Bachelor's degree in Safety and Environmental Management is preferred; Bachelor's level degree is required for other technical fields.
    - Minimum 4+ years' experience in environmental management in a manufacturing environment is required.
    - Comprehensive knowledge of applying EPA Regulations, DOT Regulations and Management Systems.
    - Experience in managing environmental compliance including reporting and record keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews, IS014001, etc.
    - Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate and teach both at the one on one level and in group settings.
    - Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment, problem solving and decision- making skills.
    - Excellent understanding of manufacturing operations.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
    - Is required to stand and walk on concrete surfaces 8 to 10 hours per day.
    - Must have the ability to walk, bend, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, climb, work overhead, use both hands, and push and pull.
    - Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    - Know and understand how to implement and manage in a manufacturing environment the Health & Safety function to prevent accidents and maintain facility in compliance to all federal/state regulations.
    - Follows and supports and company operating principles, including:
    - Company Employee Charter- Operating under its principles by treating all team members equally, fairly and with dignity and respect.
    - Abide by company policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Team Member Handbook.
    - Open Door Policy- Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.
    - Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy "Everything has a place. Everything in its place"
    - Safety First- Obey the plant's safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
    - Promote MAFACT benchmarks to achieve World Class Manufacturing.
    - Core values- Treat all team members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values.
    - Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.
    - Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
    - Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuations routes correcting any safety concerns immediately
    - Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action
    - Perform company EHS & Ergonomics training initiatives by helping identify training needs, designing curriculum, identifying facilitators and facilitating courses as needed-Including New Hire Orientation
    - Ensure company compliance with all Federal, State, Local and other applicable regulations. Design and facilitate training on such compliance issues with Team Members and company leadership by using internal or external resources as may be necessary.
    - Ensure compliance with all company Corporate environmental standards
    - Maintain Actionlinx action plans for environmental open issues, environmental document database and ergonomic assessment criteria on a quarterly basis
    - Establish and maintain the requirements of the EHS Corporate Audits, ISO 45001 audits
