    Lead Engineer


    Dynamic, well established manufacturing company in the Nashville, Tennessee area requires a Lead Engineer with a strong manufacturing and production background who will be responsible for heavy dump body fabrication and related equipment design and assembly. This position requires an exceptional structural design development and manufacturing background including power systems, thermodynamics, kinematics and energy related fields, analysis and determining structural requirements, setting fabrication and manufacturing specifications, preparation of drawings and specifications, providing hands on shop personnel support and customer service.

    The Lead Engineer is a professional, technical leader responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the discipline-specific engineering team through design, development, testing and release of products and systems by performing the following duties


    - Design structural elements and metal fabrication procedures for steel and aluminum assemblies
    - Machine design as required to produce work necessary in accomplishing mechanical functions
    - Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems including power requirements, components, fittings, and hose or tube stress
    - Weight distribution and axle load analysis for multi-axle configurations on truck chassis and trailers
    - Assist manufacturing in the research and implementation of continuous improvement ideas related to product design changes
    - Develop strategies and systems to improve accuracy, clarity and efficiency of engineering controlled documentation process
    - Assist in evaluating ERP/MRP Systems and new manufacturing technology, including robotics, with the ability to provide constructive input on strategic decisions
    - Assist in evaluating new manufacturing technology and machines to increase efficiency
    - Schedule, motivate and effectively use the manpower available by setting work priorities and by communicating objectives and results of individual performance


    - 5+ years of work experience in engineering or a related technical field
    - Four year engineering degree in mechanical engineering or related field
    - Ability to create detailed schematics and diagrams to be easily interpreted by most mechanics
    - Experience calculating and interpreting the results of structural FEA for steel and aluminum
    - Hydraulic, pneumatics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and electrical knowledge
    - Ability to design weldment instructions and calculate the weld shrinkage/distortion on assemblies
    - Ability to interpret verbal specification from customers on design and desired final appearance.
    - Snow and ice removal systems
    - Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents
    - Track record of bringing engineering projects to completion, on time and within budget
    - Energetic, motivated and innovative team player with a demonstrated ability to wear many hats
